Our sincere commiserations go to Steve Ireland, Club Vice Captain, who was on track to win just about every competition the club held until a serious accident at work almost caused his withdrawal. It says much for his character that he continued in all he could so as not to let down his partners. He ended the season winning the Jim Lewis Mixed Pairs with Sylvia Chapman and was Runner-up in the Men’s Pairs and the Mixed Pairs. He also won his Sussex County Middleton Cup badge. Well done Steve for a fantastic contribution throughout the season in spite of all the problems. |
