BOWLS CLUB

SUMMER 2008

CLUB EVENT

On Saturday 26th July the Club Barbeque was held at the Green, hosted and, as always, excellently executed by Don and Norma, Jean and George with assistance from Avis and Cliff. The weather was kind and the patrons in generous mood. As I recollect everyone who attended enjoyed a convivial evening with George’s supreme talents with the charcoal providing a luscious high point. A few illustrations can be found lower down this page.

COUNTY & NATIONAL COMPETITIONS

Steve Ireland advises that all County and National competitions are played in greys up to and including the quarter-finals. Semis and Finals in Whites. Our new club shirts can be worn throughout as they are officially approved.

General. A Mobile Telephone will be available in the Club Pavilion from the start of the season. The number is 07957 625237. The phone will be kept on charge in the kitchen and is for emergency use only.

This season we will need every member of the Club to support our bowling activities. Last year there were times when turning out our ‘B’ team for  BHL fixtures on a Tuesday evening was difficult. There were several occasions when the minimum twelve names were all that were available. We cannot run a league team on this basis. Not all players can be in the ‘A’ team. Personally I’m in favour of mixed teams but am given to understand that the BHL Management are firmly against such a proposal. Equally the Nomads had to postpone several Newhaven Evening League fixtures because of lack of  available players.

                                                       SO REMEMBER

!!   YOUR CLUB NEEDS   YOU   !!

We don’t want to be forced into the same situation as Rottingdean and there is certainly no reason that we should.

If there is anything you wish to say on this page let me know. All suggestions welcome.

THIS SEASON IT IS SUGGESTED THAT ALL MEMBERS TRAVELLING TO AWAY GAMES ENSURE THEIR DRIVER IS RECOMPENSED. PETROL IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO LEAVE IT ALL TO ONE PERSON.

AND LETS TRY TO ORGANISE CAR PASSENGERS MORE EFFICIENTLY.
